Meet Ryan Weir

Success in the appellate courts requires seeing the angles others miss—which is what I love about appellate law. It’s where an obsession for detail really matters.

After earning my B.B.A. from the University of Miami and my J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, I spent ten years in the courtrooms of D.C. and Virginia litigating trial and appellate matters across contracts, negligence, fraud and more. Over 100 briefs later, I learned to approach legal issues like an intricate puzzle: mix, match, flip, test, and re-test every theory until the winning argument is clear.

This meticulous process secured a 4th Circuit victory involving intellectual property and fraud. It also confirmed exactly where I belong: advocating for clients on appeal.

My passion for appellate law drove me to create The High Court Report, a podcast where I provide plain-English breakdowns of Supreme Court cases and host conversations with leading legal minds.

When I’m not deconstructing a case, I enjoy exploring local parks and bike rides with my wife, our two young daughters, and our dog, BowTie.
